RAO UES reports Y2K preparation status
According to main specialist of the department of development strategy and technical policy and secretary and coordinator of the Industrial Y2K coordination headquarters of RAO UES Mikhail Karepanov, the whole Russian power industry is 85-90 percent ready for the year 2000. Of more than 2,500 information systems at different levels, 70% meet Y2K requirements. So far RAO UES has invested 210-220 million roubles (about $8 million) in the solving of the problem, with plans to spend another 300 million roubles by the end of the year.
