Russia to invest over $200 million in Northern Caucasus telecommunications
The Ministry of Federal Affairs and Nationalities has announced prepared for the consideration by the Russian government a program for economic, social and political development of Northern Caucasus until the year 2005. Part of the program calls for the realization of 29 telecommunications projects in the region worth a total of 6.124 billion roubles (about $215 million). The government approved the program in general but recommended the applicant and other ministries to make some changes to it within the next two months.
