Data+ to donate software to higher education institutions

Data+ in cooperation with the State Scientific Research Institute of Information Technologies and Telecommunications Informatika have announced a tender among higher education institutions that would like to use Ersi and Erdas software. To qualify, a contestant should have a computer class with a minimum of five computers and a LAN, a plan for using the software in its educational process and the agreement of its management to have one or more teachers trained on the software. The winners will be granted 5-10 university licenses for Ersi software (ARCINFO 8.0.1 for Windows NT/UNIX and ArcView GIS 3.1 for Windows) and Erdas software (ERDAS Imagine Professional 8.3.1 for NT/UNIX). The price of the products is about $300,000 for commercial users and about $100,000 for educational users. The winners will only have to pay for teacher training - $900 for the first product and $600 for the second. According to Natalia Rostotskaya, manager of Data+ information and analysis department, her company has already received about 10 applications. As a result of a previous tender, Data+ granted the software to 40 Russian higher education institutions.
