Kraftway announces eight-processor server
The Russian office of Intel and Kraftway have demonstrated the eight-processor server GEG Express 800 based on Pentium III Xeon and the chipset Intel Profusion. According to Kraftway general director Alexey Kudryavtsev, the new machine will only be manufactured to order, with plans to sell about 100 such servers next year. The server will be available in two basic configurations: low end, based on four Pentium III Xeon 500 MHz processors (about $20,000), and high end, based on eight Pentium III Xeon 550 MHz processors (about $75,000).
