Golden Telecom reported to be planning buyouts of Sovintel and Cityline

A number of Russian news agencies have announced that Golden Telecom is negotiating with Rostelecom on the purchase of the Russian long distance carrier's 50 percent share in the overlay telephone operator Sovintel. Golden Telecom currently owns the other half of the company. Additionally, Golden Telecom is expecting to reach an agreement with Cityline on the exchange of its 25 percent plus 1 share for a controlling share in the Internet service provider, which is currently owned by a European investment company and a group of individuals. Golden Telecom officials would not comment on these negotiations.
