Moscow Cellular Communications (MCC), Ericsson and Nokia have organized a demonstration of GSM-400 equipment in Russia for the first time. Currently the Ministry of Communications is considering GSM-400 and CDMA-2000 to choose a standard that will eventually replace NMT-450. According to MCC director for strategic development Mikhail Kosinov, his company will test both standards during the course of this year, spending $4 million on the tests. Once one of the standards in approved, the operator will begin to upgrade its network – supposedly late this or early next year. The whole upgrade project is valued at about $100 million.MCC: (+7 095) 911-72-28 www.mcc.ru
