Microsoft to provide 24-hour customer Y2K support

The Russian office of Microsoft has announced some results of its activities to prepare for the year 2000. The vendor has created corporate Web sites devoted to the Y2K problem in both Russian and English-language, distributed 120,000 compact disks containing Y2K-related information and carried out the testing of over 4,200 products sold for the past 10 years. The company also announced its plans for the nearest future. From December 31 until January 4 the specialists of its technical support centers will be available 24 hours a day to answer Y2K-related questions to both corporate and individual users. The latter will be able to get support free of charge. The service will be available even to users of unlicensed copies of Microsoft products. The vendor’s Moscow-based customers, using the products in mission-critical applications, will be able to get 24-hour on-site support. Other support services, offered both by Microsoft and by its local partners, will also be available.
