DataTel, BelExpo to build national multimedia network in Belorus
DataTel has announced that it signed a contract with the Presidential Administration of Belarus for the creation of a national multimedia network in the country. The contract was signed as a result of a tender held in June. The Russian company will carry out the project in cooperation with the Belorus firm BelExpo. The first stage of the project calls for the creation of a backbone ATM network in the country's capital and the installation of a LAN in the office of the customer. The equipment to be used includes Newbridge switches, multiplexers and remote access servers, Siemens PABX systems, and Cabletron LAN hardware. The second stage to be completed next year will involve the interconnection via fiber optic lines of the network in Minsk with nodes in the country's regional centers. The delivery of equipment for the project will be performed by the Finnish company Oy SEKOM Finland Ab. The whole project is valued at over $1 million.
