Ministry of Communications to create Internet council

The Ministry of Communications and Information of the Russian Federation has announced that it will create what it terms a Co-ordination Council "to develop cooperation between the Internet market players". According to acting head of the ministry's information analytical department Sergey Grigorenko, the main task of the new body will be to develop laws, standards, recommendations and methodologies. The council will bring together representatives of the ministry, Internet companies and other interested parties. Mr. Grigorenko says all organizational questions concerning the creation of the council will be solved in the near future.
