Vympelcom publishes annual results

Vympelcom has announced preliminary results of its activities in 1999 and some plans for the year 2000. The operator reports that by the end of last year the number of its subscribers increased to 352,000 (up from 128,000 a year ago). In 1999, Vympelcom installed about 300 new base stations and now maintains 800 base stations. This year the company plans to install another 200 GSM-900/1800 base stations to provide a full coverage of the Moscow region and partial coverage of neighboring areas, and introduce a number of new services and technologies.
