Compaq, SCO present new cluster solution in Moscow

The Russian office of Compaq in cooperation with Santa Cruz Operation have demonstrated a new cluster solution to their corporate customers. The solution is based on Compaq ProLiant Cluster for SCO UnixWare 7.1 which, in turn, utilizes from two to six ProLiant servers, running under UnixWare 7.1. Unlike other Compaq cluster solutions, this product has a single file system and a single system image. According to Compaq manager for standard configuration servers Victor Gorodnichy, the price of ProLiant Cluster for SCO UnixWare 7.1 in a minimum configuration (two ProLiant 800 servers and PCI cards) is about $12,000. The software accounts for about 20 percent of the price. Shipments of the new solutions in Russia have already started - the hardware part is being supplied through Compaq partners, and the software - through SCO partners. Mr. Gorodnichy says respective training has been passed by representatives of 15 Moscow and regional partners of Compaq and SCO.
