Hewlett-Packard automates Russian State Library
The Russian State Library has announced that it has launched a new service. Called Russian Courier, the service enables anyone to order the search, copying and delivery of any document from the library or from any other library around the world within 24-48 hours. The project was carried out in cooperation with the Russian offices of Intel and Hewlett-Packard which donated their equipment for the creation of a local area network at the library. Hewlett-Packard provided three servers, five workstations and one graphics workstation, a color laser printer, a scanner, a digital sender and a CD-writer. All the above technology is based on Pentium III. Intel supplied networking equipment - network interface cards, a router and several print servers, as well as provided methodological and marketing support.
