SGI phases out Visual Workstation 320 and 540

According to Sergey Karelov, general manager of the Russian office of SGI, his company is phasing out the Visual Workstation 320 and 540 Intel based workstations, in connection with the introduction of a new family of graphics workstations. The new machines which are yet to be named will be based on a new Intel chipset and Nvidia graphics technologies. Mr. Karelov says the new computers will be 100 percent Intel compatible, as opposed to the 95 percent demonstrated by the models 320 and 540. They will also be cheaper. The new computers will become available in Russia early next year.
