Summary «TMK Bulletin» ¹2 (14)

TMK expanded beyond Russia’s borders a long time ago. The global scale of the company’s activities has necessitated the creation of the corporate information project that we call TMK Bulletin.

Currently TMK Bulletin is one of our corporate information centers. It will inform its readers about the company’s achievements, news about the company, new products and technologies, effective ways and methods of doing things, and the employees of all the company’s facilities. TMK Bulletin talks about situations in the industry and interesting events of socioeconomic and cultural life.

The magazine’s editorial board also sets out to expand its interaction with the company’s clients and partners, who are its main assets, and raise the level of information openness within TMK. The company strives to effectively inform it clients about its development and achievements.

In order to achieve a wider readership and better inform people about TMK events, our website features an on-line version of TMK Bulletin.

TMK marked its 5th anniversary in 2006. Therefore, an entire section of TMK Bulletin ¹14 called “Five Years Together” is devoted to a look back at the results of the company’s first stage of development. In an exclusive interview, General Director of TMK Konstantin Semerikov talks about the company’s main achievements and prospects for growth. True to its traditions—to be in constant dialogue with its readers—TMK Bulletin offers a podium to both its employees and its partners. Government officials, businesspeople and employees of TMK plants give their assessments of TMK’s activities and express their wishes in the pages of the magazine.

The kaleidoscope of current events in the life of TMK is presented in the magazine in the format of a retrospective. The selection of short articles and vivid photographs gives the reader a clear idea about the important things that have occurred in recent months such as new business processes and social projects, participation in exhibitions and contests.

A more comprehensive and detailed narrative is devoted to the main topic as part of TMK’s growth strategy of large-scale modernization that is underway at all the company’s facilities. In an interview, TMK’s Deputy General Director and Chief Engineer Leonid Marchenko talks about the production reconstruction program as a whole and about how the work is going. Other materials in the Modernization section clearly illustrate the latest achievements in this sphere. Readers will learn the details about the beginning of the installation of the continuous casting machine at Seversky Tube Works, which is scheduled for launch in late 2006, and also about the signing of the contract with SMS MEER for the delivery of equipment that is unique for Russia—a pipe rolling aggregate with continuous rolling mill for Taganrog Metallurgical Works. A photo chronicle shows the highlights of the preparation for the launch of the continuous casting machine and the launch of the new upsetting press for oil industry pipes at Sinarsky Pipe Works.

The life of an entire company is an enormous flow of news and events that, weaving together, organize its impetuous rhythm. TMK Bulletin tries to reflect in its thematic spectrum all the areas of the company’s activities, whether it’s a scientific and practical conference organized by TMK for oil and gas companies in one of the financial capitals of a world—London—or a traditional meeting with metals traders that occurred at Volzhsky Pipe Plant. No less an important sphere of the company’s activities is its participation in the work of the Committee for Technical Regulation under the auspices of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, headed by TMK’s Chairman of the Board of Directors Dmitri Pumpyansky. You can learn in the “Reforms In Focus” section about the company’s initiative to improve the regulatory base of the technical standards. Another article in the Science and Technologies section talks about innovations in the pipe industry that, according to the General Director of the Russian Scientific Research Institute of the Pipe Industry Igor Pyshmintsev, TMK is successfully implementing in the collaboration with scientists.

The company’s reputation in society is as important a component of its success as effective business. An article called “Investment in People” published in TMK Bulletin is interesting not only because of the relevance of the topic discussed in it in connection with the state program for priority national projects. Readers will learn about the interesting and useful experience of implementing large social projects at TMK’s facilities. A persuasive answer to the question of why the company conducts an active social policy is given in the article titled “An Atmosphere of Trust” by First Deputy Managing Director of Volzhsky Pipe Plant Elena Blagova. She talks about the role played by the factor of trust in the company’s initiatives on the part of government agencies, regional leaders, partners, investors and first and foremost plant personnel during TMK’s formative years.

The “Historical Club” section has a fascinating history of the growth of one of TMK’s plants—Taganrog Metallurgical Works, which recently noted its 110th anniversary, as well as a narrative about when people first began to use pipes and what kinds of pipes they were.

TMK Bulletin is one of the main sources of important events affecting Russia’s largest pipe company. TMK Bulletin’s editorial board values the trust of its employees and partners and respects the choices of its readers.
