MCC expands NMT network

Moscow Cellular Communications has announced that it has signed a contract with Ericsson for the delivery of a switch, base stations, transmission systems and software for the expansion of the operator’s NMT network in Moscow and the Moscow region. The installation is to be completed within the next 5-6 months. The $8 million project will enable to increase the network capacity to 150,000 lines. According to MCC general director Yuri Khromov, another $8 million his company plans to spend on the testing of GSM-400 equipment.
