Classica CIS launches satellite Internet access system

Classica CIS, a division of Classica, has put into operation a new satellite-based Internet access system – HeliosNet. The system is designed for the provision of an asymmetric channel to the Internet: the downlink is provided through the Intelsat-604 satellite while the uplink – through a low speed landline with a modem or through a leased line. The system covers a territory from Eastern Ural to Western Europe and provides a downlink speed of up to 1.5 Mbps. The end user equipment costs a minimum of $400. The monthly payment depends on traffic volume or channel characteristics. The services will be sold by Moscow-based Repport.
