ACCP destroys 400,000 pirated CDs
In the last week of July the Association for Combating Computer Piracy in cooperation with the Department for Combating High Technology Crime at the Ministry of Interior and the Russian office of Microsoft destroyed over 400,000 pirated compact disks previously confiscated from the warehouse of Media Publishing. According to ACCP expert Alexey Sidorov, the price of the CDs totaled $1 million and most of them had been produced in Ukraine. He estimates 75 percent of all pirated CDs are manufactured in Russia and the CIS, while the rest are imported from Bulgaria, Israel, China and other countries.
