Achievements
Since its formation in 2001, TMK has achieved considerable success in its activity and is highly placed amongst the world’s producers and suppliers of steel pipes. TMK presently combines more than 40% of the production capacity of the Russian pipe industry, the TMK Trade House, which performs centralized sales functions, and a multi-branch network of regional company representatives in the RF and CIS countries.
In terms of production volumes, TMK is in second place amongst the world’s major producers of steel pipes.
TMK’s share in the Russian production of pipes continues to grow steadily and is nearing 50%. This is due not only to the result of including new industrial assets in its structure, but also the Company’s sales growth as a consequence of raising the efficiency of its activity.
In 2006, the volume of the steel pipe market in the RF will exceed 6m tonnes. TMK’s share of the Russian market will amount to over 30%. The Company’s high indicators for export supply volumes are a distinguishing feature. In 2005, every second pipe exported from the RF was manufactured by TMK plants.
TMK’s success on the Russian and world markets is in many respects connected with the Company’s operational system for improving the quality and customer specifications of manufactured products in accordance with current and prospective consumer requirements. The Company’s stable position on the market and considerable technical, financial and intellectual potential enable it to implement the successful creation of new pipe products and perfect conventional types.
TMK has implemented the following measures for improving quality characteristics and the creation of new kinds of products:
- Creation and assimilation of industrial production of casing pipes with highly hermetic threaded connections from the TMK series: TMK-FM (for vertical wells) and TMK-GF (for inclined and horizontal wells).
- Assimilation of industrial production of inserted-joint threaded pipes for repairing wells with medium temperature coupling.
- Increase in production capacity of high-durability threaded pipes.
- Development of new types of drill pipe interlocking joints.
- Development of new types of seamless oil-and-gas pipelines with increased cold resistance for the requirements of Gazprom enterprises.
- Successful testing of pipes of diameter 1420mm with receipt of permit to use the given pipes at gas pipeline sites of I-IV category (spec 14-3R-60-2002).
- TMK large-diameter pipes of I-II degree quality at AK Transneft have been qualified. Preparation for proceeding with III completing stage is underway.
- Development of new types of seamless oil-and-gas pipelines with increased corrosion resistance for the requirements of oil companies.
- Content control of corrosive-active nonmetallic inclusions (CANI) is being conducted at TMK enterprises.
TMK participated in the supply of pipes for the construction of the main Russian and international pipeline projects: Caspian Pipeline Consortium, the Baltic pipeline system, pipeline Yamal - Western Europe, the Sakhalin projects, the Kenkiyak-Atyrau and Atasu-Alashankou pipelines. The company is taking an active part in the reconstruction of the Central Asia Centre gas pipeline system.
TMK’s current activity is oriented towards the development of long-term partner relations with major consumers, as well as with producers of the relevant products (stop valves, bent branches) to completely satisfy the growing requirements of customers.
