Microsoft releases the Russian version of Windows ME

This week Microsoft announced that it is now shipping the Russian version of Windows Millennium Edition. The English version of the operating system was presented in the US on September 14th. The product is available both as a full package and as an update for Windows 95, 98 and 98 SE. The Russian version is fully localized and also supports the Ukrainian and Belorussian languages. The only functional difference with the US version is that the Russian version does not support WebTV, which was excluded as there is no infrastructure for this service in Europe and Asia. Early next year Microsoft plans to launch an interactive user support service over the Internet in Russia. Windows ME will be the first Microsoft product to support the new service.
