Court rules that Russian bank has right to use unlicensed Microsoft software
At the beginning of August the Russian office of Microsoft announced that the Moscow Arbitrary Court had obliged the Bank for Development of Entrepreneurship to make a number of payments to the software company for using its products illegally and to uninstall unlicensed copies of those products. The bank appealed against this judgment on the grounds that the law only bans the distribution of unlicensed software, not its use. Having considered the appeal, the court overruled its previous decision.
Currently, Microsoft is preparing to appeal to a higher Court.
