Compaq presents new computers in Moscow

Compaq Computer has announced a number of new products in Russia. The vendor presented its new processor Alpha 21264 A EV67, working at 667 MHz. The processor is already available for order. Compaq also announced a new class of UNIX servers. In addition to the existing high-end, midrange and low-end machines, the vendor released base low servers. The first machines in this class demonstrated in Moscow was AlphaServer DS10L based on Alpha 21264. Other servers based on the new processor include AlphaServer DS20E (dual-processor) and AlphaServer ES40 (quad-processor). All these servers are already available at about $5,000, $20,000 and $50,000 respectively. At the same time, Compaq announced a new version of the OS Tru64 UNIX V5.0A and the software TruClaster V5.0A. Tue64 UNIX V5.0A is bundled with Alpha servers and its price is included in the machine’s price. TruClaster is already available for order at prices, depending on configuration.
