Port.ru gets $2.5 million investment

The US Russian Investment Fund has announced that it has acquired a stake in the Internet portal Port.ru for $2.5 million. Although the parties would not disclose the size of the stake, they say the whole company is worth about $27.5 million. This deal was the second investment Port.ru has received in the last year. A private US investor bought a 20 percent stake in the company last summer for $940,000. According to Port.ru president Eugene Goland, the company’s mail.ru site has doubled its subscriber base and the company’s value quintupled since then.
