Compaq Launches Prosignia Brand in Moscow

The Moscow office of Compaq Computer has demonstrated a new line of Prosignia personal computers. In Russia, the line will be represented by two models – Prosignia 316 and Prosignia 318 targeted at small and medium businesses. Prosignia 316 is based on Celeron 466 MHz (upgradeable to Pentium III 600 MHz). Prosignia 318 uses Pentium III 550 MHz. Both models are sold bundled with the localized versions of Windows 98 and Word 2000. According to Compaq, it has already sold over 3,500 new computers since they first became available in Russia in December. The retail prices are as follows: Prosignia 316 - $530-$600, Prosignia 318 - $930-$999.
