Minolta Russian office to stop selling printers

According to former coordinator for laser printers of the Russian office of Minolta Igor Sotnikov, starting next year his office will stop working with printers, focusing on photo technology. The united QMS-Minolta brand will be promoted by QMS distributors DPI and MAS Elektronikhandels while the status of former Minolta distributors is yet to be determined. Mr. Sotnikov says they can become DPI or MAS dealers if they want to, or apply for the status of QMS-Minolta distributor. According to representatives of most of the former Minolta distributors - White Wind-DVM, Varicom-11, Soft-Tronik, Landata, and Nexus - they will probably try to reach distribution agreements with other printer vendors because they are not interested in being someone’s dealers, while it will be very difficult to demonstrate sales volumes high enough to get the status of distributors with such competitors as DPI and MAS.
