Russian government looking for outside help with Y2K problem

According to a number of information agencies, prime minister Vladimir Putin has signed a decree on the attraction of foreign loans for the solving of the year 2000 problem in Russia. The loans are expected to total $50 million and to be used by the State Committee for Telecommunications for the upgrade of hardware and software installed base in state organizations. All purchases will be overseen by the Ministry of Trade of the Russian Federation.
