Cancer chooses its victim according to hair color

The person may fall ill with cancer or may not. What does it depend on? Naturally, it depends on the person’s way of living, environmental factors, which are constantly affecting him, his bad habits, etc. But it turned out, that the appearance also plays some role.

Several studies conducted by scientists from Edinburgh have shown that the probability of skin cancer is definitely associated with hair color. Now the researchers have only the preliminary data and can not make any conclusions about the characteristics of this association, but within the nearest months they are planning to conduct more detailed study of this problem. 400 people at the age of 18 to 30 years suffering from various forms of skin cancer are supposed to be enrolled in the study. On the opinion of scientists, the received data will help to get some idea about influence of various “appearance factors", for example hair color, on the probability of malignant tumours development.

"Analyzing medical publications, we noticed, that researchers had repeatedly associated the probability of skin cancer with a person’s hair color, - said Doctor Terens Vong in his interview to the BBC correspondent. – But the point is that the exact mechanisms of this association have not been established yet. We hope to fill this gap".
