NGTS completes first stage of digitalization project

Novosibirsk City Telephone Network (NGTS) has announced that it completed the first stage of a project to upgrade its network. The project calls for the replacement of outdated analog telephone exchanges, serving some 70,000 subscribers, for digital switches, the increase in the network capacity and the creation of a fiber optic ring. During the first stage the operator upgraded about 30,000 subscriber lines, using Alcatel equipment and laid over 80 km of fiber optic cable.
