Sun Microsystems presents Sun Ray 1 in Moscow

Sun Microsystems has announced a new software technology, Hot Desk, and the first device, utilizing this technology, the corporate terminal Sun Ray 1. The terminal does not have a local operating system. Instead, it should be connected to a server, working under Solaris and Sun Ray software. Sun Ray 1 supports applications for Windows NT, Solaris and other systems. Moreover, the new technology enables a user to forward applications to other workplaces, using a smart card. The price of Sun Ray 1 in Russia will be about $480 until January 1, 2000.
